Balinga

Balinga is an action-exploration game where you play as a bird navigating a shattered world of mysterious islands. Using semi-realistic, momentum-based flight, you must master flapping, gliding, and diving to overcome hazards, solve puzzles, and uncover the secrets hidden in this surreal landscape.

Development Context

Project Balinga is an independent project currently in development with Unreal Engine, blending action, exploration, and puzzle elements through a unique bird-flight gameplay system.

The game is being developed by a small, multidisciplinary indie team, combining skills in programming, 3D art, animation, and game design. The focus is on delivering a polished and immersive flight experience in a stylized world of mysterious islands.

With a carefully scoped production, the project emphasizes agility and creativity: semi-realistic flight mechanics, modular level design, and atmospheric environments that tell their own stories.

 

Our goal is to create a distinctive exploration game where movement, flow, and discovery are at the core of the player’s journey.

Sound design

As the Technical Sound Designer on Balinga, I design and implement the game’s entire audio system using Wwise and Unreal Engine.

 

My focus is on immersion: each biome features its own unique atmosphere, supported by a dynamic day/night cycle and adaptive weather systems.

I make extensive use of randomization techniques to ensure that ambient sounds are never the same twice, creating a living, organic, and ever-evolving soundscape that enhances the player’s sense of exploration and immersion.
